Ik heb even de Engelse zoektermen gebruikt, en als ik zoek op care taking Rawhide hat, dan krijg ik de volgende antwoorden:

Care: Use a soft brush, starting at the left side of the hat, and brush it counterclockwise toward the back of the hat and around again. If your hat gets wet, simply shake off the excess water. If it's a fur felt, you need to turn down the "self-conforming" leather sweatband and stand the hat on the sweatband so it can dry naturally. Never rest your hat on its brim as this could cause it to lose its shape. Store your hat upside down, on its crown, on a clean surface or in a box.


Rawhide should be treated as leather. Rawhide absorbs much less lubricant than leather, but has the same requirements of protection and lubrication.


When cleaning your hat, dust it off with a hat brush, a sponge, or a clean damp cloth when the hat is dry, not wet. Begin dusting on the front left side of your hat and work your way around the hat in a counterclockwise direction. Persistent lint or stray hairs can be removed by patting your hat with the sticky side of masking (or similar) tape.

Dus volgens mij was je al redelijk op de goede weg, met een borstel, een vochtige doek of spons kan dus ook.
