Waarom heet voetbal in Amerika 'Soccer'?

omdat voetbal een nederlands woord is en soccer een engels woord???

Volgens mij is het in Engeland soccer, niet in Amerika.

Waarom het zo heet? Omdat het zo is afgesproken, net zo als er is afgesproken dat het in nederland voetbal heet.

Omdat football, daar American Football is. En dat is een heel andere sport.

waarschijnlijk omdat football bij de meeste amerikanen al bekend staat als american football.

soccer is dan minder verwarrend

Ik heb even gegoogled en ik heb het antwoord voor je gevonden. Het is alleen wel in het engels.

Oftewel; Ze hebben een verkorte versie van het woord: association. Maar omdat ze moeilijk de eerste drie letters konden nemen (want dan krijg je ass) dus hebben ze er soccer van gemaakt.

Het is een verbastering van het woord Association. Verwijzend naar Association Football.
